UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center

In support of the research center Cost Cutters participates in many creative fundraising events throughout the year. One of these recently allowed Bill Kaminski, owner of the Cost Cutters of Madison franchise, the opportunity to partner up with an old friend and client for 30 years; professional golfer and commentator, Andy North. Battling skin cancer since 1991, North partnered with Bill for a special haircut where North shaved his head in preparation for Photodynamic Cancer Therapy treatment. Bill asked for community donations to the UW Cancer Center and pledged to match all donations up to $10,000. The event raised $20,000 for the center and helped to draw attention to a great cause. Cost Cutters of Madison is also a major sponsor in the annual Andy North and Friends golf outing event, which raised more than $300,000 for cancer research this year.

Hospice Care

In support of Hospice Care in Madison, Cost Cutters built a hair salon inside of the facility located in Fitchburg. Every Thursday stylists give back to their local community by staffing the salon and offering hair care services to the residents. Monetary donations are also made to Hospice Care for each new store opening!

2010 Oil Spill

The 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico created yet another opportunity for Cost Cutters of Madison to help. News of the use of hair clippings to soak up the oil set ideas into action. The company decided to spearhead its own hair clipping collection among its nearly 50 salons in the region and also asked fellow hair salons and community members to join them. With the help of local vendors and community members, Cost Cutters shipped out over 600 pounds of hair to the gulf in just two weeks of collecting!
